“That such poetry… has been made a vehicle for an unsentimental, thoroughly religious sensibility that does not turn away from the spiritual combat inevitable to life in this world suggests that contemporary poetry is regaining its capacity for a seriousness that extends beyond the everyday secular preoccupations of our time….”

— James Matthew Wilson, The Catholic World Report, July 14, 2018

The Catholic Poetry Society is a home for poets of Faith.

We meet virtually once a month to profit by positive, thoughtful critique, to develop additional skills, and to flourish in our creativity and its spiritual basis.

We also share networking and contest submissions information. We keep each other up-to-date on publishers and journal submissions opportunities.

We welcome writers of good will from other faith traditions who wish to join our community.

If you are a poet, we offer you a supportive environment to explore and develop skills. You will work directly with experienced poets who are interested in coaching writers and knowledgeable about contemporary issues on the national level for Catholic Arts.

Please email cathla.org@gmail.com to learn more about this group and if there are current openings. Please note that you must be a CLA member to participate in our critique groups.
